As an experienced gundog trainer for Labradors, Red Rooster Retrievers helps develop your dog's natural abilities through focused training that builds discipline, responsiveness, and confidence in the field.

Designed for dogs six months and older, this program prepares your dog for upland field hunting by teaching them to locate birds, hold points, and retrieve downed game directly to your hand. Our approach as an upland hunting dog trainer includes basic water retrieves, weather permitting, to support the well-rounded development of your gundog.
Program Duration and Costs
Most dogs complete this program in about three months, though the exact timeline depends on each dog's development and readiness to advance. The program is $750 per month, with special pricing available for dogs purchased from Red Rooster Retrievers. Bird costs are not included and will be charged separately. Contact us for more details.
Test Their Skills in the Field
Hunt tests provide an opportunity for dogs to showcase their training and demonstrate their abilities in realistic field settings. Each spring and fall, Red Rooster Retrievers participates in these events and offers handling services for your dog at $50 per test if requested.
Hunt test entry fees are the owner's responsibility, with Certified Pointing Retriever tests costing approximately $95 and Advanced or Master level fees varying. For complete APLA hunt test details, refer to the American Pointing Lab Association.
